Scopriamo di cosa si tratta, con quali sintomi si presenta e come si interviene.<\/p>\n<h1>Cos\u2019\u00e8 la rogna otodettica<\/h1>\n<p>L\u2019otoacariasi o rogna otodettica \u00e8 una malattia della pelle causata da <strong><em>Otodectes cynotis<\/em><\/strong>, un acaro che pu\u00f2 localizzarsi all\u2019interno delle orecchie del cane, del gatto e anche dei conigli. \u00c8 piuttosto piccolo (0,7-0,8 mm), con un corpo allungato, quattro paia di arti lunghi e un apparato buccale ben sviluppato, adatto a pungere la cute. Si tratta di un <strong>parassita<\/strong> appartenente agli acari non scavatori, i quali, una volta infestato un ospite, vivono sulla superficie della cute, dove<strong> si nutrono di detriti cellulari, sangue, batteri e cerume<\/strong>, e si riproducono abbastanza rapidamente. <img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-4094\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-cynotis-rogna-otodettica-36d.jpg\" alt=\"otodectes cynotis rogna otodettica\" style=\"margin: 15px 0px 15px 15px; float: right;\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-cynotis-rogna-otodettica-36d.jpg 450w, https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-cynotis-rogna-otodettica-36d-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chiaramente, dopo essersi nutriti, depositano sulla cute dell\u2019animale le proprie feci, che contengono delle sostanze particolari che vengono riconosciute e attaccate dal sistema immunitario dell\u2019animale, innescando cos\u00ec una <strong>risposta infiammatoria<\/strong> piuttosto intensa, accompagnata da:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Arrossamento cutaneo<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Presenza di cerume nero secco<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Prurito molto intenso (l\u2019animale si gratta continuamente le orecchie,<a href=\"\/?p=3188\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"> tiene la testa inclinata da un lato<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Graffi e ferite provocate dall\u2019animale stesso durante il grattamento<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Perdita di pelo dovuta al grattamento<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gli acari sono in grado di <strong>spostarsi rapidamente da un orecchio all\u2019altro<\/strong>, tanto che \u00e8 considerato praticamente normale riscontrare i sintomi in entrambi i padiglioni auricolari. In alcuni casi, soprattutto se non viene trattata adeguatamente, l\u2019otoacariasi pu\u00f2 diffondersi anche nelle zone circostanti, soprattutto sulla faccia, sulla testa e sul collo. Nel gatto una delle sedi \u201calternative\u201d pi\u00f9 interessate \u00e8 la<strong> coda<\/strong>, proprio perch\u00e9 tendono ad arrotolarla attorno al corpo durante il sonno.<\/p>\n<p>Nei casi pi\u00f9 gravi, gli acari possono addirittura raggiungere le parti pi\u00f9 interne dell\u2019orecchio,<strong> fino a raggiungere il timpano<\/strong>, una delicatissima membrana che pu\u00f2 andare incontro ad infiammazioni o addirittura a perforazioni.<\/p>\n<p>La rogna otodettica \u00e8 <strong>molto contagiosa<\/strong> e pu\u00f2 essere trasmessa con facilit\u00e0 anche a soggetti di specie diversa, per cui non \u00e8 difficile osservarla <strong>contemporaneamente sia nei cani che nei gatti<\/strong>, nelle case in cui convivono pi\u00f9 animali da compagnia. La trasmissione richiede un contatto diretto tra l\u2019animale malato e quello sano, poich\u00e9 il parassita non \u00e8 in grado di sopravvivere a lungo nell\u2019ambiente esterno. Il contagio quindi \u00e8 pi\u00f9 frequente in gattili, canili e allevamenti, soprattutto nei cuccioli e nei gattini, che \u201cereditano\u201d spesso questi acari dalla madre.<\/p>\n<p>In ogni caso, \u00e8 importante sottolineare che l\u2019otocariasi degli animali<strong> non pu\u00f2 in alcun modo essere trasmessa all\u2019uomo<\/strong>, a differenza della rogna sarcoptica.<\/p>\n<h1>Come si interviene<\/h1>\n<p>Se notiamo la presenza di questi sintomi nel nostro cane o gatto, dobbiamo prima di tutto <strong>recarci dal veterinario<\/strong>, che dovr\u00e0 procedere con una corretta diagnosi, attraverso:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Osservazione del padiglione auricolare:<\/strong> la presenza dei segni tipici \u00e8 inconfondibile, ma serve comunque una conferma;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-4097\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-acari-orecchie-4e8.jpg\" alt=\"otodectes acari orecchie\" style=\"margin: 15px 0px 15px 15px; float: right;\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-acari-orecchie-4e8.jpg 450w, https:\/\/wordpress.socialdogcat.spregamore.ddnsfree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/otodectes-acari-orecchie-4e8-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Esame dell\u2019orecchio con un otoscopio<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Osservazione del cerume al microscopio:<\/strong> permette di cercare direttamente gli acari<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Raschiato cutaneo:<\/strong> soprattutto se il problema interessa anche la cute circostante alle orecchie, \u00e8 necessario prelevare con la lama del bisturi la parte pi\u00f9 superficiale della pelle, che andr\u00e0 osservata al microscopio per cercare gli acari.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Se il sospetto di otoacariasi \u00e8 stato confermato, il veterinario potr\u00e0 procedere con la prescrizione della terapia pi\u00f9 adatta al quadro clinico del nostro animale. Sono disponibili numerose formulazioni <strong>acaricide<\/strong> in forma di <strong>spot-on<\/strong> (selamectina, fipronil) da applicare direttamente nella zona tra le scapole \u2013 <strong>mai direttamente nelle orecchie<\/strong> se non riportato sul foglietto illustrativo del prodotto.<\/p>\n<p>Esistono anche prodotti molto validi da somministrare nelle orecchie, spesso a base di un mix di <strong>acaricidi, antibiotici e antimicotici<\/strong>, ottimi soprattutto quando si sospetta un\u2019infezione mista \u2013 evento non cos\u00ec raro. Quando applichiamo le gocce auricolari dobbiamo afferrare il padiglione e massaggiarlo, in modo da impedire che il liquido venga eliminato dall\u2019animale scuotendo la testa. Nelle forme pi\u00f9 estese potrebbe essere necessario ricorrere a trattamenti sistemici.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 assolutamente <strong>vietato il fai-da-te<\/strong> in questi casi, perch\u00e9 alcuni di questi prodotti possono risultare dannosi in caso di lesioni del timpano.<\/p>\n<p>Quando ci si approccia ad una terapia nei confronti degli acari delle orecchie \u00e8 necessario<strong> seguire scrupolosamente le indicazioni del veterinario<\/strong> riguardo alle modalit\u00e0 e alla durata del trattamento, poich\u00e9 bisogna essere assolutamente certi che tutte le forme del parassita siano state eliminate.
