A rivelarlo \u00e8 un articolo pubblicato da National Geographic<\/strong>, che ha riportato le parole della dottoressa Raelynn Farnsworth<\/strong> della Washington State University\u2019s College of Veterinary Medicine, secondo cui i cani possono sviluppare delle allergie nei confronti del gatto o dell\u2019uomo, e viceversa.<\/p>\n

In particolare, a scatenare la reazione allergica sarebbero i residui di pelle morta e pelo<\/strong> che ognuno di noi perde quotidianamente, grazie al naturale ricambio cellulare proprio della cute. Questi detriti racchiudono piccolissime cellule costituite da frammenti di pelle, peli, capelli, ciglia e molti altri residui rilasciati nell\u2019ambiente da noi e dai nostri amici a quattro zampe. Non a caso, anche le \u201cnostre\u201d allergie al cane e al gatto sono scatenate proprio dal contatto con queste sostanze.<\/p>\n

Ebbene, \u00e8 stato dimostrato che lo stesso discorso pu\u00f2 valere anche per i nostri animali, che possono sviluppare diversi sintomi tipici delle allergie quando vengono a contatto con questi residui. Questa scoperta era stata gi\u00e0 anticipata nel 2005 da una ricerca scozzese, secondo cui i gatti possono manifestare una importante forma di asma, dovuta proprio al contatto con l\u2019uomo.\"gatto<\/p>\n

La dottoressa Farnsworth \u00e8 riuscita ad identificare due tipi di manifestazioni leggermente diverse nel cane e nel gatto. Nel cane<\/strong> i sintomi sono soprattutto localizzati a livello della cute, con infiammazioni e prurito, ma possono comparire anche starnuti e riniti. Nel gatto<\/strong> invece sono pi\u00f9 frequenti le dermatiti accompagnate da forfora e perdita di pelo, pi\u00f9 evidenti nella zona della testa e del collo.<\/p>\n

Per capire se il cane o il gatto soffrono di questa rara forma di allergia, dobbiamo prima di tutto esaminare la durata dei sintomi. Generalmente le allergie stagionali \u2013 come quelle ai pollini, per esempio \u2013 si manifestano solo in concomitanza con la comparsa dell\u2019allergene nell\u2019ambiente. Al contrario, se i sintomi persistono tutto l\u2019anno<\/strong>, potrebbe trattarsi di una reazione ad alcuni ingredienti presenti nel cibo oppure potremmo cominciare ad ipotizzare che sia allergico a noi.<\/p>\n

Il veterinario \u00e8 in grado di testare il nostro animale nei confronti di varie sostanze. Nello specifico, \u00e8 possibile verificare se il cane sia allergico ai detriti cellulari del gatto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ma come possiamo intervenire se il nostro amico a quattro zampe \u00e8 allergico proprio a noi? Niente paura. Il veterinario pu\u00f2 tranquillamente trattare l\u2019allergia del cane e del gatto, esattamente come accade per noi umani. La soluzione \u00e8 quella di trattare l\u2019animale con spray o gocce orali<\/strong> che contengono una minima quantit\u00e0 di allergene \u2013 la sostanza che scatena la reazione allergica \u2013 in modo da far capire al sistema immunitario che deve semplicemente ignorarlo.<\/p>\n
